“How do I work less?! I’m about to be swamped.”

A way to get better at seeing what you include that you could strip away is to look at examples of other things you purchase, and ask, “What’s not necessary?”

Take this example from a plane flight, the promise of which is to “get there on time, safely.”

What’s not necessary?

  • Overhead reading light

  • Overhead fan

  • Tray table

  • Seat that reclines

  • Snacks and a Sprite from the drink cart

and so on.

Several valuable components of a plane flight can still be removed to potentially create a lower-cost, lower-priced offer.

Many CPAs create value they don’t even see. When that value is invisible, it can’t be priced on purpose. The result is missed revenue on the high end – and missed opportunities to remove work and offer simpler, lower-cost options.

So.

In answer to the question, “How do I make more when I have no extra hours to work?”

A: Learn to price intangible forms of value. Then learn how to design products that require fewer of your hours.
